Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who was killed as a result of a motorcycle versus deer accident Oct. 5 on US 378 in Lexington. 

Ruth Hunt Payne, 53, of Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained. 

The motorcycle on which Payne was the passenger struck a deer that ran into the roadway. 

Payne and the motorcycle operator were wearing helmets when the accident occurred.

The operator was transported to an area hospital. The condition of that individual is currently unknown. 

The accident was investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
