Meadow Glen student threatens Lexington Middle

Posted

The alarming trend of school threats continues.

A Meadow Glen Middle School student is no longer allowed on campus after sending "alarming texts" about Lexington Middle School.

A concerned parent reported their child's threats to Lexington Police Aug. 22 after seeing them on the child's cellphone.

The district said the texts could be interpreted as a threat to the school.

The district said Meadow Glen administrators contacted his parents who removed him from school.

The student is not allowed on any District 1 property and has been recommended for expulsion.

This is the 2nd District 1 threat in less than 2 weeks.

Police arrested a 16-year-old White Knoll High student Aug. 12 for posting threats online to shoot up the school and kill himself.

That student received mental health evaluations and was released to his parents.

The district encourages students and their parents to report any safety concerns to school administrators, School Resource Officers, school counselors, teachers or other employee.

The district's tip line is 803-636-8317. Concerns can also be emailed to 1607@alert1.us.com .
