A North Carolina man has died in a collision in Lexington County.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified Michael Allen Costner, 48, of Morganton, NC, as dead.
It occurred on I-26 Westbound at Mile Marker 91 shortly before 2 am on Feb. 20.
According to Fisher,  Costner was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.
According to Fisher, the van being driven by Costner was moving at a slow pace due to road construction when it was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Costner was wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred. Other occupants of the van, as well as a passenger from the other vehicle, were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
