  • The Lexington 1 Board wants to hear from you about the new school's name

New Gilbert school name proposed

In the early 1900s, Centerville School was opened near the town of Gilbert.

It began as a 1-teacher school.

Within a few years, a more modern 2-teacher school was built.

In 2000, the original 2-room school became a home.

Available maps and documents still refer to this as the Centerville area.

Lexington District 1 administration is excited about honoring the history of education in Gilbert by naming a new school Centerville Elementary School.

The new school is scheduled for construction at US 1 and Rice Drive in Gilbert.

The district chooses names with historical significance for schools using feedback from parents, community members and students/\.

Board members will consider the recommendation and welcome public feedback. You can contact board membersat
