Nuke inspectors say closed reactor at V.C. Summer leaked nuclear tainted water but was contained

Posted

The V.C. Summer nuclear site leak poses no threat to environment, workers or homes nearby, a spokesman for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission says.
The leak is coming from a 6-inch pipe inside the site's containment building, he said.
The last operating reactor at the site was shutdown last week and remained that way Friday.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), who has authority over the leak at V.C. Summer Nuke site, says the leak is coming from a weld area on a 6-inch pipe inside the containment building. The pipe is connected to the reactor coolant system, Dominion Energy officials said.
