Nephron Pharmaceuticals and Dominion Energy have opened a convenient drive-thru vaccination site in Lexington County.
Nephron offers vaccinations by appointment to those eligible in Phase 1a.
DHEC has information online on vaccine eligibility and making appointments at www.SCDHEC.gov.
Nephron CEO Lou Kennedy said the private sector partnership will have an immediate impact.
She said Dominion's President of Electric Operations Keller Kissam offered to provide anything they could to help.
"Partnerships like this are going to make our entire nation stronger on the other side of the pandemic,” she said.
Additional partners in the drive-thru include Stay Alert Safety Services, Lexington County Public Works and Emergency Services Departments, the Town of Lexington and Optec Digital Displays.
The drive-thru is on Dominion Energy property off I-77 at Exit 2.
Dominion Energy also contributes power and logistics support.
Nephron registered nurses and pharmacists administer vaccinations with help from Nephron diagnostics lab employees.
Covid-19 tests are also available at the drive-thru.
Mrs. Kennedy thanked Gov. Henry McMaster and DHEC for recognizing the potential private companies have to make a difference in the lives of the people of South Carolina.”
Nephron opened the diagnostics lab last year and has tested thousands of people across the state for covid including employees, students, educators, athletes and families.
The Nephron lab procured state-of-the-art technology for covid-19 real-time PCR testing and serological antibody testing.
Results are delivered within 24-48 hours.
A locally-owned company, Nephron develops and produces safe, affordable generic inhalation solutions and suspension products.
The company also operates an industry-leading division which produces pre-filled sterile syringes and IV bags for US hospitals to alleviate their drug shortage needs.
