Public Hearing on Carolina Crossroads

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is hosting their Carolina Crossroads Public Hearing today. 
The purpose of the hearing is to present and solicit comments on the proposed solution to fix Malfunction Junction and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. 
The DEIS is a critical milestone for this important project and includes details on the traffic and environmental evaluation completed on corridor solutions presented at the September 2017 public meeting.
All the information in the DEIS has been summarized for easy access in an online format and is available at www.SCDOTCarolinaCrossroads.com.
The public hearing is being held at the Columbia Conference Center, 169 Laruelhurst Ave., Columbia until 7 p.m. tonight.
Verbal comments will be heard at 3 and 6 p.m.
Interactive display maps showing details of the proposed solution and the DEIS will be available for review. The project team will be available to answer questions. 
Written comments on the DEIS and proposed solution to fix Malfunction Junction will be accepted until Monday, September 17, 2018. Comments can be submitted through the project website www.SCDOTCarolinaCrossroads.com, online meeting, project hotline 800-601-8715, or mailed to

When complete, the Carolina Crossroads Project will improve local mobility and reduce traffic congestion in the corridor. SCDOT is driving toward a 2019 destination when a contractor will be selected to take this project to construction.
