Rep. Chris Wooten to serve on racial justice reform group

 House Speaker Jay Lucas has appointed Rep. Chris Wooten of Lexington to an Equitable Justice System and Law Enforcement Reform Committee.

Wooten is a former law enforcement officer and local businessman.

The committee represents a bipartisan, diverse group of lawmakers to recommend reforms to improve our state’s justice system and law enforcement policies. Lucas said

Wooten and other members will examine:  

1.   Law Enforcement Officer Training, Tactics, Standards and Accountability

2.   Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform

3.   Criminal Process and Procedure Reform 

4.   Sentencing Reform
