Around Gilbert & SUMMIT

Classic Fit is an exercise program for seniors at the Gilbert-Summit Senior Center. It helps with mobility, inner core, strength and more. The classes are on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m.

“Seniorcise” is offered Monday through Friday, 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, the members have an exercise instructor for an hour and each member can take advantage of walking in the gym daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Several members have told us they feel better after the exercise classes.. What is happening at the GSSC in June? On Friday, June 8th the members are having their annual picnic at Camp Kinard from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Each year they look forward to their cookout and fellowship with other members. The week of June 11th the members will enjoy two days of lunch and fellowship at two local churches. On Friday, June 15th the members will honor and celebrate Father’s Day. The remainder of the month GSSC members will enjoy day outings and health education seminars. They will wind up the end of the month with a morning of Karoke. GSSC members enjoy coffee, snacks and a daily lunch at noon. If you are age 60 years you are eligible to join the GSSC. For more information call 892-5745.

Gilbert-Summit Library will have its Summer Reading Kickoff June 5 at 11 a.m. Activities will include snacks, games and crafts. Each Monday in June at 2 p.m., the library will have Lego Mania. Children will use their problem-solving skills to build different Lego creations. Tim Sonefelt will take children on a musical adventure with his amazing magic and hilarious puppetry June 14 at 2 p.m. For information, call the library at 785-5387.
