They also reported an elderly persons' death in Calhoun County, 1 of 3 in SC Sunday.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control Monday announced 1,226 new confirmed cases, 3 new probable cases and 17 more confirmed deaths.

14 of those deaths occurred earlier in July and were delayed in reporting..

This brings total confirmed cases to 82,071, probable cases to 346, confirmed deaths to 1,452, and 54 probable deaths.

As of Sunday, 711,726 tests have been conducted in the state.

8,395 individual test results were reported to DHEC Sunday.

Positive test resuts numbers are falling, too.

14.6%.tested positive as infected.

That means 85.4% tested as virus free.

DHEC listed no hospital bed use during the transition to a new counting system.

DHEC said evidence is increasing about the high rates of infection in people who have no symptoms nor know they are infectious.

This places more of us at risk of getting the virus or unknowingly transmitting it to others.
