SCE&G sues to stop rate cut

The abandoned nuclear site where the problems began

Posted

South Carolina Electric & Gas will appeal a federal court order to cut its rates.
The appeal may delay cutting 700,000 ratepayers' rates an average $300 a year.
It could continue to give SCE&G $37 million a month from its ratepayers.
Lawmakers passed Act 258 in June, resulting in a temporary reduction of SCE&G's retail electric rates 15% retroactive to April 1, 2018.
SCE&G lawyers say the law heightens the requirements for SCE&G to recover costs from its abandoned nuclear project.
