Student threats are reaching epidemic proportions.
4 more Lexington County schools were threatened last week.
Irmo Middle, Chapin High and Beechwood Middle school students made threats.
In addition, an 18-year-old was arrested for bringing a shotgun onto White Knoll High property.
Deputies arrested James Edward Folk Tuesday, Aug. 27.
An eyewitness saw Folk with a weapon at a business near White Knoll High then saw him drive onto school property.
He is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center and is awaiting bond court.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
An additional suspect has been charged. His name will not be released because he is a teenage minor.
He has been released to his parents’ custody.
 Irmo incident
An Irmo Middle School student is being investigated after a teacher reported hearing him make threats during a fire drill Thursday, Aug. 29.
Detectives are interviewing the unidentified minor.
He made a statement to a peer about “shooting up the school,” according to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon.
The School Resource Officer responded immediately and determined the student did not have access to weapons.
 Chapin charge
A Chapin High School student has been charged after making a comment in reference to a school shooting.
“A parent whose child overhead the threat on a bus notified the Chapin High School Resource Officer,” Sheriff Koon said.
Deputies found no weapons on the student.
Investigators interviewed the unidentified teen after he talked to a classmate about “shooting up the school,” Koon said.
The student is charged with making threats to a school.
He has been released to the custody of his parents and will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
 Beechwood
A Beechwood Middle School student has been charged after telling a classmate he had a bomb.
Deputies interviewed the minor, whose name will not be released, after he made a statement to a peer about having a bomb in his bookbag, according to an incident report.
Detectives later determined he did not have any explosives.
“Lexington County School District 1 administration notified us about the threat after the classmate’s guardian reported the incident,” Koon said. “We responded immediately to the student’s residence for further investigation.”
The student is charged with making threats to a school. He has been released to the custody of his parents and will appear in Family Court later.
The 12-year-old made the threat Tuesday, Aug. 27, while waiting for a bus in the pickup line, District 1 officials said.
