Spring concert series ends

Rhythm on the River fans love coming out for the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber-sponsored event.

The spring concert series ended for this year Saturday at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater on the banks of the Congaree River.

Finnegan Bell opened the last night. Travelin’ Kine headlined.

Richard Skipper, the chamber’s executive director, said the concerts seem to get better with time.

“I’m proud to be associated with the volunteers, the sponsors, the City of West Columbia and all of the people who come to these unique and great concerts,” he said.

“I have loved every minute of the spring series, and I cannot wait to start planning for the fall series.”

Volunteer Philana Williams-Jones was tracking zip codes at the concert.

“I get to meet lots of great people from different areas, and the wonderful people from West Columbia.

“I have a great time hearing all the different bands, and hearing all the great feed back about our food trucks.”

She added that many of the people she talks to come from Columbia and elsewhere.

She praised the volunteers who make the VIP tent come together. Many sponsors are small business owners. The concerts are a chance to promote their businesses.

West Columbia City Councilman Tem Miles said the concerts are special.

“Rhythm on the River is one of the most attractive series of events held around here,” he said.
