SUSPECT SOUGHT IN OVERNIGHT BURGLARIES

Posted

Chief Terrence Green is asking the Town of Lexington
community for assistance on the whereabouts of a suspect involved in two burglaries along with
the theft of motor vehicle and theft from motor vehicle incidents that occurred overnight.
On Friday, March 22, 2019, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400
block of West Main Street for a suspicious white male subject seen in the area. While doing a
property check of the Lexington Driving Academy and Deroin Tax & Business Service, an officer
observed David Kemp Ferguson, age 34 of Lexington, South Carolina, inside the business.
When David Ferguson saw the officer, he fled from the back door of the business running into
the nearby woods. A perimeter was set up and a police canine deployed in an attempt to track
the suspect. After an extensive search of the area, officers were unable to find David Ferguson.
During the course of the investigation, detectives found that David Ferguson had burglarized the
Lexington Driving Academy located at 403 West Main Street and had then broken through a
door that adjoined to Deroin Tax & Business Service, burglarizing that business as well.
Detectives believe that David Ferguson stole a 2017 Nissan Sentra, driving it to the rear of the
business as items from the business and vehicles in the parking lot were found inside the stolen
vehicle.
Arrest warrants have been issued for David Ferguson for two counts of Burglary as well as Theft
of Motor Vehicle, Theft from Motor Vehicle and Failure to Obey a Police Officer.
Anyone who knows where David Ferguson is or has additional information regarding this
investigation, is asked to contact Detective Voravudhi at 803-358-1514.
