An update for our readers

Dear Reader,
The pandemic is having an impact on your local newspapers:

1. The Lexington County Chronicle will continue to be published in print and online.
The print edition will  go only to our subscribers and advertisers, delivered by our friends at the US Postal Service. We thank them for their continuing service in trying times.

2. Because hundreds of the locations where we sold the print edition are closed, we have suspended single copy print sales for now.
We invite those who love the Chronicle but only bought it at these stores to join our family of subscribers.
That will bring it to you each Thursday morning on your phone or other electronic device.

3. We will continue to publish the popular free Lake Murray Fish Wrapper in digital format only. Due to its cost we have been forced to suspend the print edition.
We invite those who love the Fish Wrapper to go to our site, LexingtonChronicle.com
You can read it free. You just can't wrap your fish in it.

4. As a community service to you and all of Lexington County, our aggressive health and virus reporting and stories will remain free on our web site.
You don't have to be a subscriber to read them.
This has attracted more than 3,500 visitors a day, up from 1,500 a day.
Other valuable local reporting, neighborhood columns and colorful stories are still behind the pay wall for subscribers only.

5. All of this is expensive.
Advertising pays for 80% of our operating costs.
Without it, we would be out of business.
Due to the unfortunate shutdown of many businesses, they no longer can afford to advertise.

We need your help by becoming a subscriber.
You can subscribe or extend your subscription for 3 months for only $10 for online or print editions.
To start or extend your subscription call us at 803-359-7633 or go to LexingtonChronicle.com and click on "Subscribe or renew here."
