Updated: Columbia Police Department arrested Shemar Payne during a traffic stop investigation May 30. The Lexington Police Department will be serving warrants on him for the recent robbery of CVS in Lexington that occurred earlier this month.

Shemar Khalee Payne, 18, of Columbia, is the suspect of an armed robbery Thursday, May 2.

About 2:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy at 5608 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington.

A black make identified as Payne entered the store with a handgun and a note demanding  prescription medications. 

He stole several store employees' mobile phones and fled with multiple prescription medications in a white KIA Optima driven by an unidentified accomplice.

Officers found the victims’ mobile phones discarded nearby.

The white KIA was found later in in Columbia. The vehicle had been stolen.

Lexington Police has outstanding warrants for Payne including armed robbery and kdnapping.

Payne should be considered armed and dangerous.
