State Sen. Dick Harpootlian and Irmo Mayor Barry Walker wanted tio see for themselves.

Tuesday they visited the covid-19 testing site at Crossroads Middle School on Saint Andrews Road.

They worked with the Medical University of SC and and Lexington Medical Center to provide free tests to anyone who wants one without an appointment or referral.

The site provided drive through and walk up testing from 10 am until 3 pm Tuesday and will again at the same time Thursday.

"Not everyone who has covid-19 will show symptoms which is why testing is a vital step in curbing the spread of the virus," Harpootlian said.
