Who should elect State Superintendent of Education?

SC may soon let future governors appoint the position

The Constitutional Ballot Commission will meet Thursday, August 9, at 9 a.m. to discuss the one Constitutional amendment on the November ballot in South Carolina.

That amendment would change the state Superintendent of Education position to be appointed by future governors rather than elected by the people. The Commission decides on the language that will appear on the ballot to explain the amendent.
