A Lexington County church is on edge after a man allegedly attacked a member of the congregation.

Chapin Police arrested Henry Michael Lees Jr., 72, for 3rd degree assault and battery following the Jan. 5 incident.

According to reports, the victim, a 58-year-old woman, was serving as a door greeter at Lady of Our Lake Catholic Church in Chapin that day.

Lees Jr. entered the building where he cornered the victim twice, yelling and shaking his fist at her, according to police reports.

The victim’s husband reported being confronted by the same man a few months ago.

Police reports show the man was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.

The victim said she plans to pursue charges and a restraining order, according to police reports.

Lees Jr. was released on a $1,087 personal recognizance bond that same day.
