Dorian will reroute I-26 traffic Monday
Traffic on Interstate 26 will be rerouted beginning Monday morning in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian.
At 4 am Monday the Category 5 storm was heading west toward Florida and expected to turn north along the coast toward Charleston.
On Monday, Sept. 2, the City of Cayce’s Department of Public Safety will work with state officials to reroute traffic for those being evacuated from the coastal counties in response to Gov. Henry McMaster’s order of mandatory evacuations, effective at noon on Monday, Sept. 2.
Beginning at 8 am Monday, motorists will not be able to travel eastbound on I-26 starting around exit 116 and ramps will be closed while Cayce officers assist state officials in preparing for lane reversals from the coast.
