11-year-old Columbia student charged with shooting, bomb threats
An 11-year-old student was charged Tuesday with making threats to bomb CrossRoads Intermediate School and shoot school buses.
A Lexington County Sheriff's Deputy interviewed the District 5 student after the threats were discovered on social media over the weekend.
The student's name will not be released because he is under age 18.
"Administrators notified the CrossRoads [school resource officer] about the threat over the weekend," Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.
"We took those screenshots and identified the suspect with the help of Lexington-Richland School District 5."
Koon said the investigation is ongoing.
The student will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
