Barbara O. McCord

Mrs. Sara Barbara Oswald McCord, 88 of Roswell, died Thursday, May 30, 2019. Mrs. McCord was born on December 29, 1930 to the late Karl Frederick Oswald and Lillian Ruth Graham in Lexington, SC. Barbara, affectionately called “Babs”, graduated from Lexington High School where she played basketball, was a cheerleader, in the senior play and the homecoming queen. 
 After graduating she went on to become one of the first licensed dental hygienist in the state of South Carolina. Barbara lived all over the world with her fighter pilot husband, John, and raised their four children.  Afterward she became a real estate agent earning numerous prestigious awards.  She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Marietta, GA. 
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Thomas Logan McCord, Jr.  She is survived by sons, John Thomas Logan McCord, III of Fairburn, GA; Brooks Graham McCord of Cumming, GA; Derek Dixon McCord of Cumming, GA; daughter, Marsha McCord Byrd of Birmingham, AL; sixteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive. 
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Marietta. Burial followed in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
