Congratulations to four athletes at White Knoll High School who have signed letters of intent to play at the college level for various schools.
Brawnwyn Koellner will compete in track and cross country at USC Upstate. Selwyn Porter will compete as a wrestler at the Citadel. Clayton Lindsay will play football at Limestone College. Amar Omerbasic has committed to Wingate University as a kicker.
Honors were recently awarded to several instructors at the Center For Public Health and Advanced Medical Studies at White Knoll High School. Abby Beard, Nicholas Hanle, Amber Morris, Melanie Piro and Erin Summerford earned commendations for WKHS as a “Project Lead the Way Distinguished School.”
The Center for Public Health and Advanced Medical Studies offers innovative classes for students interested in careers in public health and medical professions that require a four-year degree or beyond. All students take four honors courses, including Biomedical Innovations, Human Body Systems, Medical Innovations and Principles of Biomedical Sciences.
The senior adult ministry at Red Bank Baptist Church-will hold a Young at Heart dinner May 19, 4:30 p.m. Cost is $3 per person. Any 55 or older can register by calling the church office.
A very special happy birthday this week to Mrs. Colene Hook, who turns 90 years old today. A former superintendent of the Lexington County School District, she also taught a Sunday School class at Red Bank United Methodist for 50 years. Mrs. Hook certainly has touched a lot of people’s lives over the years.
