Road closures in Lexington Saturday

Detours will be in place for Shamrock Parade

The Town of Lexington will experience several road closures Saturday.

Downtown Lexington will be detoured in preparation for the St. Patrick’s Shamrock Parade Mar. 9.

The road closures and detours will begin at 12:30 pm and affect:

  • West Butler Street, from Columbia Avenue to North Church Street.
  • Haygood Street and part of Meetze Street.

The Parade will use the route of Haywood Street to West Main Street to North Lake Drive to West Butler Street.  

These streets will remain closed until all parade floats and participants are clear from the roadway.

Best viewing of the parade will be along West Main Street through downtown Lexington.

Prior to the parade at 2 pm:

  • West Main Street, from Columbia Avenue to North Lake Drive, will close at 1:45 pm.  
  • All traffic will be detoured around the parade route until the event is complete. The detour routes will be signed to assist motorists around the parade route area.

West Main Street is expected to be reopened by approximately 3:30 p.m.
