The regular season will come down to one more game for Lexington and Dutch Fork girls’ basketball teams.

The 7th ranked Lady Wildcats and Lady Silver Foxes secured a Region 5-5A championship matchup at 7 p.m. Friday at River Bluff High School with contrasting victories on Thursday.

Lexington dominated winless River Bluff 69-27 win in picking up its 20th victory of the season. Senior Olivia Thompson finished with 19 points and Claire Tarlton added 12 for the Lady Wildcats (20-4, 7-1). Niya Perry had 10 points to lead the Lady Gators (0-21, 0-8), who end the season with a 30-game losing streak.

As Lexington did its part, Dutch Fork found itself trailing as many as 8 points to the Lady Timberwolves on Seniors Night. An 8-0 run in the 4th quarter tied the game and Taylor Jones hit a 3-pointer to put Dutch Fork ahead 36-35.

After the Lady Silver Foxes hit 2-4 free throws on their next 2 possessions, Jalisa Squirewell hit a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left. Dutch Fork quickly pushed the basketball upcourt to an open Jala Robertson in the right corner for the 3-pointer as time expired in the 41-38 victory.

Katrice Jackson led Dutch Fork (13-8, 7-1) with 10 points, matching Squirewell’s total for the Lady Timberwolves, and Robertson added 9. Bria Singleton finished with 8 points for White Knoll.

The 2 teams split their regular-season contests, each winning on the road.

Thompson, lexington, Robertson
