Airport girls crack Top 10 of S.C. Basketball Coaches Association polls

Swansea girls, Lexington boys move up a notch

For the first time this season, the Airport girls' basketball team is listed in one the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association Top 10 polls. 
The Lady Eagles (15-7, 5-2) made their 2018-19 season debut in the poll at number 8 in Class 4A.  They currently sit in 2nd place in Region 5-5A behind top-ranked and 2-time defending Class 4A champion North Augusta.
In other girls' ranking, 3-time Region 5-3A champion Swansea (19-2, 6-0) moved up to 2nd in Class 3A. The Lady Tigers' only 2 losses have come at the hands of Airport and they are currently riding a 14-game winning streak. 
The Lexington girls are ranked 7th in Class 5A. The Lady Wildcats (17-4, 4-1) take a 4-game winning streak into Dutch Fork Friday in a contest which could determine the Region 5-5A title.
The Lady Silver Foxes (12-6, 6-0) won the first meeting 53-50 on Jan. 15 in Lexington. 
The Gray Collegiate girls' are 7th in Class 2A, while the boys' rankings finds defending Class 2A champion Gray Collegiate still atop its respective poll. The War Eagles (12-10, 5-0) play host to C.A. Johnson Friday at Allen University.

Meanwhile, undefeated Lexington moved up 2 places to 3rd in Class 5A and River Bluff remained at number 5. The Wildcats (23-0, 5-0) travel to Dutch Fork looking to clinch the Region 5-5A title, while the Gators (18-4, 3-2) head to Chapin.
