A 4-run inning allowed Camden Post 17 to defeat Lexington Post 7 7-3 and maintain its hold of first place in League 3 Monday.
Lexington jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top 2nd on an RBI single by Chris Rikard and RBI fielder's choice by Eric Beebe. Rikard and Noah Huffmaker led Lexington with 2 hits each.
Camden cut the deficit to 2-1 with a RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom 2nd, but Lexington's Brett McEwen of Batesburg-Leesville answered with one of his own to make it 3-1.
Camden took control of the game in the Bottom 4th. After a sacrifice fly by Jake Raffin made it 3-2, J.C. LeGrand belted a 2-run single off Lexington starter Braydon Fowler and Sawyer Reeves followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to put Camden up 5-3.
Khyree Miller made it 6-3 in the bottom 4th with an RBI double and Noah Rabon added an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom 6th.
Lexington rallied in the top 7th. Eric Beebe hit a leadoff single and scored on Ryan DeRienzo's single. Matt Willis of Gray Collegiate added another run with a sacrifice fly, but the tying run at the plate McEwen struck out to end the game.
Camden improved to 11-1 overall, 5-1 in League 3. Lexington dropped to 6-5 overall, 3-3 in the league and in 2nd place. The two teams meet against at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lexington Ballfield Sports Complex.
