Pounding out 11 hits and getting 9 strikeouts from Aaron White, Lexington Post 7 defeated Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24 6-3 for its 1st win of the season.
Chapin/Newberry jumped out to a 3-0 lead through 3 innings. Jalen McDuffie of Class 5A champion Dutch Fork had a RBI sacrifice fly in the 1st and Chase Hood hit an RBI double and scored on an error in the 3rd inning.
Lexington answered back with 6 unanswered runs over the final 4 innings.
McEwen started the comeback in the Bottom 3rd when he scored on a wild pitch. Braeden Marzitelli followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Back-to-back RBI singles by Noah Lebron of River Bluff and McEwen put Lexington ahead 4-3 in the 4th. Reid Watson scored on a throwing error in the 6th and McEwen capped his 3-hit evening with a solo home run in the bottom 6th.
The 2 teams meet again Friday at Newberry College.
