After rainfall forced the postponement of ongoing American Legion League III games Tuesday, Lexington and West Columbia returned to action Thursday.
Both Lexington County teams ended up playing shortened games. Lexington Post 7 routed Aiken 13-2 in 5 innings, while West Columbia Post 79 fell in 6 innings 13-3 to defending League III champion Camden Post 17.
Lexington 13, Aiken 2 (5 innings)
After falling behind 2-0 in the top 1st, Post 7 responded with 12 unanswered runs over the next 3 innings to earn the League III win.
Lexington cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom 1st, then scored 3 runs in the bottom 2nd. Post 7 erupted for 7 runs in the bottom 3rd, with Noah LeBron and Tyde Cooper each driving in 2 runs on a double and single, respectively.
LeBron finished with 3 hits and 3 RBI to lead Lexington. Cooper also had 3 hits and he and Wyatt Keisler each finished with 2 RBI.
Brayden Fowler had 6 strikeouts and allowed 4 hits in 4 innings for the victory.
Lexington (4-4, 3-2) plays host Monday to Orangeburg Post 4 in a non-league contest at Lexington Ballpark Sports Complex.
Camden 13, West Columbia 3 (6 innings)
After trailing 3-0, West Columbia ralllied with 3 of its own on the Top 4th.
Jay Wise singled home a run and Post 79 tied the game when 2 baserunners scored on 2 Camden errors.
Post 17 proceeded to score 10 unanswered runs over the next 3 innings for the victory.
West Columbia (2-5, 2-3) returns to action on July 17 after an 11-day team hiatus.
