The "Georgia Blues" continued to haunt the Lexington County Blowfish as it opened a 4-game road trip Tuesday at Luther Williams Field.
It was the 3rd consecutive loss on the season for Lexington County (4-8). The Blowfish also dropped their 5th straight game dating back to last year to the Bacon, including all 4 games this season.
Combining the 0-3 record this season against the Savannah Bananas, Lexington County fell to 0-7 against Georgia-based CPL teams this season and have dropped 9 straight dating back to July 2018.
Lexington County led 1-0 in the top 1st on an RBI fielder's choice by Ashby Smith. Macon answered with a 2-run single by Calvin Estrada in the bottom half of the inning, a 2-run homer by Cory Bivins in the 2nd and 2 runs in the 4th on hits by Brandon Ashy and Jared Miller.
Daniel Rutherford was charged with 5 of the 6 runs allowed in 4 2/3 innings. He finished with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks for the loss. Macon added 3 more runs in the bottom 8th off reliever Zach Williams.
Up next is a trip to North Carolina to face High Point-Thomasville at 7:05 pm. The Blowfish are 4-1 this season against non-Georgia-based teams.
