Bacon flips Pancakes 9-0

Posted

It was a “flat” Friday on the field at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

A crowd of 1,884 fans were in attendance as the Lexington County Blowfish changed mascots for one night. For the matchup against Coastal Plain League newcomer Macon Bacon, the organization became the “Pancakes”.

The one-time appearance of the Pancakes ended with a 9-0 loss to the Bacon. In dropping their third home contest in four games and suffering the first shutout of the year, Lexington County (3-5) was held to five hits by Macon starter James Williams and reliever Nathan Styles.

A 5-0 deficit in the first inning saw the Bacon capitalize off two of four errors committed by second baseman Jared Williams. After getting the first two baserunners aboard in the bottom of the first, the Pancakes managed just three hits the rest of the way.

Brett Fulk pitched six innings and allowed eight runs in the loss.

Lexington County will look to snap its 2-game losing streak in Saturday’s return trip to Savannah. The Bananas pulled out a 9-8 win in 10 innings on Thursday.
