Saturday saw the “Same Ol’ Song” play out at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
On a night the “Sounds of Motown” was celebrated and a former head coach provided assistance, the Lexington County Blowfish dropped their 11th straight home game to the Savannah Bananas.
The 6-0 win clinched the 1st half Coastal Plain League South Division title for Savannah, which held the Blowfish to 6 hits. Bananas’ starter Dustin Saenz struck out 11 batters and allowed just 4 hits.
Despite also getting held to 6 hits by Lexington County pitchers, the Bananas capitalized off 4 Lexington County errors to improve to 17-8 on the season.
Daniel Rutherford took the loss despite striking out 6 in 5 innings and allowing just 2 unearned runs.
Former Blowfish head coach Jonathan Johnson was on hand Saturday working with the pitchers.
Lexington County (7-18) will open the 2nd half of the CPL season Monday at Gastonia.
