The Lexington County Blowfish looked to complete a “Peach State Sweep” with a win Wednesday at Grayson Stadium.

A night after winning a shootout with the Macon Bacon, the Blowfish fell 2-1 to Savannah in a pitcher’s dual.

Lexington’s Jared Drayton and Savannah’s Jordan Merritt both threw 4 scoreless innings against each other. The Bananas took a 1-0 lead in the bottom 5th on an RBI single by Ethan Baucom.

The Blowfish tied the game in the top 6th on an RBI fielder’s choice double play hit by Houston Wright. Savannah answered in the bottom half of the inning by loading the bases and Justin McConnell drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch.

Merritt finished the game with 9 strikeouts and 5 hits allowed in 6 innings. Drayton took the loss despite six strikeouts and allowing just 7 hits.

Aaron Adams of River Bluff led Lexington with 2 hits.

The loss dropped Lexington (14-23, 7-4) and Savannah (24-13, 7-4) into a first-place tie in the South Division for the 2nd half. The Bananas are looking to win division titles for both halves for the 2nd straight year.

Lexington County ends its 3-game road trip Thursday at Florence.
