The University of South Carolina dropped both games of a doubleheader Sunday to 4th ranked Vanderbilt, falling in the opener, 9-3, and in the nightcap, 6-2 at Founders Park.

The Gamecocks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second of Game 1 as Jacob Olson and Andrew Eyster doubled to lead off the inning. Olson scored on Eyster's 2-bagger and Chris Cullen brought in the second run with a sacrifice fly to right.

Vanderbilt came back with 3 runs in the top of the 3rd as a Gamecock error opened the door for the scoring.

South Carolina tied the game at 3-3 in the 4th on Eyster's 7th home run of the season. Vanderbilt ended the contest scoring the last 6 runs, including 4 in the 7th as Austin Martin and JJ Bleday each had two-run hits.

Eyster had two hits and drove in a pair to lead the Gamecock offense. Reid Morgan took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs and five hits with four strikeouts and six walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Vanderbilt opened the scoring in Game 2 with 4 runs in the 2nd, 2 on Pat DeMarco's 3rd home run of the year.

South Carolina bounced back with 2 runs in the 5th. Luke Berryhill reached on an error to start the inning. He went to second on Olson's double and scored on Eyster's RBI single. With two out, Wes Clarke singled to right to score Olson.

The Gamecocks threatened in the 6th, as Olson and Eyster both had 2-out singles. Cullen took a Hugh Fisher pitch to the warning track in right, but it was hauled in by Bleday for the 3rd out.

Vanderbilt then added insurance in the 7th on back-to-back home runs from Bleday and Ethan Paul.

Olson and Eyster had 2 hits apiece in Game 2. Former Lexington County Blowfish pitcher Cam Tringali allowed 4 hits and 4 runs in 1 2/3 innings, taking the loss. Brett Kerry pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief, striking out a pair and allowing 3 hits and 2 runs.

The Gamecocks return to home at home Monday against Furman University.
