It was a busy Saturday for high school baseball in Chronicle Country.

A total of 12 games at 3 sites were played as part of the revised schedule for the 4th annual Naturchem Invitational.

DAY THREE OF NATURCHEM INVITATIONAL

It was a busy Saturday for high school baseball in Chronicle Country.

A total of 12 games at 3 sites were played as part of the revised schedule for the 4th annual Naturchem Invitational.

Co-host school River Bluff won both of its home game via shutout. The Gators opened with a 10-0 win in 5 innings over Belton Honea-Path as Cameron Ferrell drove in 3 runs and winning pitcher Ricky Williams struck out 5 and allowed just 2 hits.

The 2nd game saw the Gators blank Camden 3-0 as Holden Bunch and Owen Newman each allowed 3 hits and combined for 4 strikeouts in 6 shutout innings.

Ricky Williams and Jacob LeBron each had 2 hits and William Chastain drove in 2 runs for River Bluff. It closes out play in the Invitational with a noon game against Sumter.

Over at Airport High School, the Eagles split their 2 contests. It defeated Mauldin 6-2 as Dalton Mims and Parker Whittle each drove in 2 runs and Whittle struck out 5 in 5 innings.

The 2nd contest saw Airport and Wren play to a 1-1 tie. Brandon Caughman hit a game-tying RBI sacrifice fly in the 6th inning. On the mound, he struck 6 and allowed 0 hits in 3 innings of relief of Cam Beckham, who had 5 strikeouts and allowed 2 hits.

Lexington High School also split its 2 contests. The Wildcats defeated Sumter 2-1 in the 1st game as Chase LeMacks and Landon McMahon each drove in a run and Cal Herndon struck out 4 and allowed 3 hits in 6 innings.

The second game at Wildcat Stadium saw Lexington fall 6-3. Braison Bourne had 2 of the Wildcats’ 10 hits and Ryan Toll drove in 2 runs in defeat.

The Silver Foxes swepts its 2 contests. It defeated Mauldin 6-2 as Noah Jackson and Bryan Helms each drove in 2 runs and went on to defeat Wren 11-2.

Bryan Helms had 3 hits and he, Noah Jackson and Joey Metts each drove in 2 runs. Ty Olenchuk and Leonard Fuhr both had 2 hits and Steve Hatchet struck out 7 in 4 innings of work.
