The final round featured four birdies and two eagles by Johnson, who also regained the world number-one golf ranking over Justin Thomas with the victory. He finished 19-under-par to at TPC Southwind for the second time in his career.
Meanwhile, fellow Silver Foxes alum Wesley Bryan finished tied for 12th place at 6-under-par. After three days under par, he shot a final shot of 3-over-par 73.
Johnson will be paired with Thomas and another former U.S. Open champion and world number-one Tiger Woods during the first two rounds of the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Long Island, N.Y.
This was the 19th overall professional and 18th PGA Tour career victory for Johnson. It was also his first tour victory since the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January.
