For the second straight year, defending 3-time Class 5A champion Dutch Fork turned its 1st place showdown with River Bluff into a rout.

The top-ranked Silver Foxes scored on its 1st 6 straight possessions enroute to a 48-14 win over the 8th ranked Gators in Irmo. 

Quarterback Tyler Olenchuk threw for 251 yards and was responsible for 3 touchdowns. Playing in front of his future college baseball coach Monte Lee of Clemson, Olenchuk broke former Mr. South Carolina Football Matthew Colburn’s school record for touchdowns. 

Current Mr. South Carolina Football Finalist Jalin Hyatt caught both touchdown passes from Olenchuk and had 4 receptions for 135 yards.  He also threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Spencer on a flea flicker in the 2nd quarter.

Jon Hall rushed for 2 scores for Dutch Fork (7-0-1) which extended its undefeated streak to 33 games, won its 32nd straight in-state contest and entered its 22nd consecutive region victory.

River Bluff (6-1) scored all 14 of its points in the 4th quarter. Shrine Bowl running back Braden Walker had a 17-yard touchdown run and finished with 103 rushing yards and Austin Outman caught a 70-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Jackson Stone.

Dutch Fork plays host to Lexington, while River Bluff travels to Chapin.

Holy Cross-bound quarterback Hunter Helms ‘christened’ the newly-renovated Bolden Stadium with 349 passing yards and 5 touchdowns, all in the first half, to lead the War Eagles.

Blythewood 42, Irmo 35

Former Gilbert quarterback Josh Strickland threw 3 touchdown passes in his return to Chronicle Country with the Bengals.

Amir Washington added 2 scores as Blythewood withstood a late rally by the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 1-1) to earn the Region 4-5A road win.
