The "Temple of Doom" proved too much for visiting Chapin in Friday's matchup against fellow Lexington-Richland District 5 school Irmo High.
The host school pulled off the varsity sweep with lopsided wins in both contests. The Lady Yellow Jackets 67-30 behind 15 points by Madison Dopico, all coming on 5, 3-pointers in the first quarter.
Maliyah Mason added 13 points and Jayla Lovett and Ehrial Wagstaff each added 9 points each for Irmo. The Lady Yellow Jackets (5-3) scored as many points in the first quarter (27) than the Lady Eagles (2-3) did in the entire game.
Emma Fabry had 9 points to lead Chapin.
The boys' contest was also dominated by Irmo. The Yellow Jackets scored the first 10 points of the game enroute to a 67-21 win.
C.J. Washington led Irmo (6-3) with 15 points, Trevez Caldwall had 12 and Khari Felder finished with 11. Jarod Kelly scored eight of the Eagles' 10 first-quarter points and finished with a team-high 10.
Up next for Irmo is a home matchup against undefeated, 6th-ranked Lexington on Tuesday. Chapin plays host to Saluda the same night.
