Former Dutch Fork High and Penn State running back Michael Gasparato, 37, lost his 11-month battle with cancer on June 28.
He was a standout high school running back for the Silver Foxes before signing with Penn State.
He averaged 5 yards per carry during his time at Penn State from 2000 to 2004. He rushed for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns on 39 carries. He also caught 2 passes for 62 yards.
Gasparato’s late father, Nick Gasparato, was a former assistant coach at Penn State.
His younger brother, Greg Gasparato, played football at State College Area High School and later at at Wofford College. He was hired as a defensive assistant in January 2018 by Appalachian State.
The Lexington Chapel of Caughman-Harman Funeral Home will hold services this Sunday at the River Homes and Jasmine Houses and Gardens at 2204 North Lake Drive starting at 5 pm.
