HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL - Crusaders defeat Knights in county SCISA matchup

Despite a slow start, Northside Christian pulled ahead midway through their matchup with W.W. King Academy for a 10-3 victory.
Both teams remained scoreless through the first two innings, but the third would make up for it. King Academy scored first in the top of the third, with a runner from third base coming home off a base hit into left field.
Another runner scored from second off a base hit into center right to make it 2-0 King Academy. It was all the Knights would get, leaving two runners stranded.
Northside Christian turned the tables in the bottom of the third by loading the bases. Joey McRoberts scored all three runners by punching a double deep into the outfield.
The Crusaders added 3 more in the fourth by taking advantage of a wild pitch and stealing two bases, extending the lead to 6-2.
W.W. King Academy loaded the bases and looked poised to catch up. However, McMillan pitched his way out, striking out 3 batters in a row to end the threat.
An eventful bottom half of the inning for Northside saw them load the bases on a wild pitch, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch. This set up Christian Hampton’s 2-run double followed by an RBI fielder's choice to make it 9-2 at the end of the fifth.
The Crusaders added 1 more in the 6th inning and the Knights gained a run off a bases-loaded walk in the 7th. Jake Daniels closed out the game on the mound in relief to put Northside Christian Academy over the .500 mark at 7-6 on the season.
Up next is a Thursday home matchup against Wardlaw Academy.
