Lexington County Baseball Stadium remains the home away from home for the Savannah Bananas.
Saturday's 10-0 shutout loss extended the Lexington County Blowfish losing streak at home to Savannah's 10 games dating back to July 26, 2017. The loss also snapped Lexington County's 2-game winning streak and dropped it to 0-5 this season against Georgia-based Coastal Plain League teams.
The South Division contest saw the Bananas pound out 18 hits and starter Austin Temple throw 5 2/3 perfect innings against the Blowfish.
The contest was scoreless until Savannah pounded out 4 runs in the Top 3rd against Lexington County starter Zack Williams. In addition to 5 hits, the Bananas capitalized off 2 Blowfish misplays in the outfield.
Jacob Rye of Gilbert High School relieved Williams in the 4th, but also gave up 4 runs after hitting 2 batters.
Savannah (9-3) added 2 more runs in the 5th, one each off Rye and Will Abbott. Meanwhile, Temple retired the first 17 batters faced until he was unable to field a soft grounder by Ashby Smith for an infield single.
Smith finished with 5 strikeouts. The only other Blowfish hits came on a single by Jordan Holladay in the 7th and 1-out triple by Michael Green.
The Clemson University outfielder was thrown out at homeplate to end the game.
Lexington (4-6) returns to action Monday against the Macon Bacon. Macon is 2-0 this season against the Blowfish and are 7-4 at the stadium in its history.
