Lexington boys improve to 16-0 with win over visiting Crocks

Bailey Harris has had plenty to smile about this sesaon with his undefeated, 6th-ranked Lexington High School boys' basketball team.
The longtime head coach is overseeing the program's best-ever start. On Thursday, the Wildcats extended their record to 16-0 following a 82-54 win over over the Horizon Crocodiles, a traveling team out of Sydney, Australia.
Mason Carver had a team-high 21 points, fellow senior Bradley Foulks added 18 and Jonathan Crowley finished with 14 to lead Lexington. It was the second highest point total this season and marked the 8th contest with a margin of victory of 20 or more points for Lexington.
Nevertheless, Harris saw an areas of concern with the Region 5-5A opener at White Knoll just 5 days away.
"I didn't think we played particularly well tonight," he said. "But, we have played well. Played really well down in Florida (winning the Sandestine Beach Blast in Freeport, Fla.), played well for the most part this year. I know when it gets region time, it's 0-0. It doesn't matter what you are coming in and our region is going to be very good. So, we'll have to keep getting better every day."
Harris was displeased with his team's transition defense against the Crocks. Guard Moses Bartley was especially potent against Lexington with a game-high 33 points.
"He hit a couple of 25 footers that we were not going to guard," Harris said.
Lexington was rarely threatened after the first quarter, thanks to the play of its senior backcourt.
"Those 2 guys (Foulks and Carver) were pretty key players and at least part-time starters as sophomores when we went 3 rounds into the playoffs," Harris said. "They were pretty key players then. They know what we want to do. They're the most veteran guys on the floor and they're good leaders."
Lexington will close out non-region play at 7 p.m. Saturday versus Clinton High School. The contest will take place at Presbyterian College.
