When it comes to the state of Georgia, it's a tale of 2 teams for the Lexington County Blowfish.
While Lexington County is winless in 3 games against the Macon Bacon, it's actually fared better against the Savannah Bananas. On Monday, the Blowfish routed the Bananas 12-5 to improve to 2-0 against them in the Southern Summerball Series.
Josh Senter of River Bluff and North Greenville and Blowfish newcomer Joshua Hernandez each had 3 RBI in the win. Brennan Milone had 2 RBI to increase his team-leading total of 13 on the season and Jared Kirven of Lexington High School had 3 hits.
On the mound, University of South Carolina pitcher Brett Kerry threw 5 shutout innings and struck out 7.
The Bananas mounted a comeback in the bottom 8th. Bill Leroy put Savannah on the board with a sacrifice fly. After the Bananas loaded the bases, Gabe Howell sent Brett Percival's pitch over the rightfield wall for a grand slam home run.
Cole Fredrick followed with a 3-run homer over reliever Will Sanders. Zack Iverson pitched a scoreless 9th inning to close out the victory.
Lexington (5-3, 2-3) returns home Wednesday to face the Lake Murray Purple Martins. The team is still awaiting word from the Governor's Office in regards to their appeal on his executive ruling keeping fans from attendance.
