LEXINGTON COUNTY BLOWFISH - OFFENSE ERUPTS TO EARN 1ST WIN OF SEASON

Blowfish look to snap home skid vs. Savannah on Monday

Saturday was a night of firsts for the Lexington County Blowfish.
It was the first "Concert In the Sky" at Lexington County Baseball Stadium as fireworks were rocketed upward into the night.
The most important "first" was the one posted in the "win" column. After two straight losses to open the season, Lexington County routed winless Wilmington 12-2 in a non-South Division matchup.
Jordan Holladay of the University of South Carolina had 3 hits in leading an offense which pounded out 13 hits. He opened up the scoring in the bottom 1st with a single to score Trace Whetsell of Gilbert High School.
Fellow Gamecock and Swansea High graduate Josiah Sightler followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.
The Blowfish erupted for 6 runs in the bottom 2nd, starting with an RBI double by Tyler Corbitt of Airport High School and followed by an RBI single by Whetsell. Following an RBI fielder's choice by Josh Gregory, Sightler drove in his 2nd run of the game with a double and Josh Senter of River Bluff closed out the rally with an 2-run double.
On the mound, Shane Connolly allowed just 4 hits and struck out 4 in 5 scoreless inning in his 1st start for the Blowfish.
With the score 9-0 in the top 6th, the Sharks (0-3) picked up a run on a passed ball. The Blowfish inserted 3 relievers to finish the contest and they struck out 6 and allowed 2 runs without giving up a hit.
Jonah Beaman of South Carolina was the recipient of the "Golden Sombrero" as he was struck out 4 times.
Josh Asbill of Lexington High School capped the evening with a 2-run homer in the Bottom 8th.
Lexington County continues its 3-game homestand Monday against South Division rival Savannah. The Blowfish will seek its first win at home over the Bananas since July 26, 2017. Savannah has won 8 straight games at Lexington County Baseball Stadium, including going 7-0 last year.

Holloday, Connolly, Asbill
