For the 2nd straight night, a big inning by the Coastal Plain League opponent sent the Lexington County Blowfish to defeat.
Friday’s 5-0 loss to South Division leader Savannah at Grayson Stadium saw the Bananas score off their runs in the 5th inning.
It was a scoreless contest through the first 4 innings. In the bottom 5th, things started to unravel for starting pitcher Daniel Rutherford, who committed 3 throwing errors on pickup attempts which helped the Bananas score 4 runs.
A 4th throwing error by catcher Jared Kirven helped score another run for Savannah, which improved to 2-0 on the season. For the second, Lexington County has 7 errors after amassing 100 last season.
University of South Carolina designated hitter Jordan Holladay had 2 hits for the second straight night.
Lexington County (0-2) returns to action Saturday at home against Wilmington.
