The race for 1st place in the Coastal Plain League's South Division is a virtual tie right now.
The Florence RedWolves scored 7 unanswered runs to defeat the Lexington Blowfish 11-6 Friday at Lexington County Baseball Stadium. With a 8-4 win over Savannah, the Macon Bacon took a percentage point lead in the 2nd half standings at 6-5 with Lexington, Florence and the Bananas all tied at 7-6.
Luis Acevedo, who will be playing his final game with the Blowfish Saturday, had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Clemson's Michael Green had a 2-run homer to help build a 6-4 lead through 5 innings.
Florence tied the game with 2 runs in the 6th and took the lead for good in the 7th with a 4-run rally against reliever and losing pitcher Ryan Flores.  Eldridge Figueroa had a 2-run homer and Brandon McIlwain had 3 RBI and 3 hits along with Kenny Piper to lead the Red Wolves.
Lexington pitchers hit 7 batsman in the contest and allowed 15 hits. The Blowfish had 12 hits, but were held scoreless after the 5th inning.
Up next is a non-division matchup against Forest City. The game is designated as "Man on the Moon Night" as Lexington County celebrates the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
Fans can play catch with the Blowfish players prior to the contest and fireworks will take place after the game.
