Lexington High to hold inaugural Auto-Owners Insurance Showcase

Posted

Lexington High boys’ basketball coach Bailey Harris has provided a early Christmas present for high school hoops’ fans.
The inaugural Auto-Owners Insurance Showcase Saturday at Wildcat Gymnasium will feature 5 high-quality matchups involving ranked boys’ and girls’ teams. Even more special is the amount of starpower coming into Chronicle Country.
“If you look at the matchups, for in-state area teams, I’ll take our matchups over any of these other shootouts,” Harris said. “You look at those matchups and you’ve got (W.J.) Keenan with a stack of recruits and players playing against (University of South Carolina) signee Trae Hannibal on a Hartsville team that’s got some other players. Sumter with (C.J.) Felder who’s already committed to Boston College...going against (A.C.) Flora. Great matchup there. You’ve got the top two juniors in the state at Dorman (P.J. Hall and Myles Tate) against the top senior in the state (Josiah Jones) at Porter-Gaud.
“I think the one girls’ matchup with (3rd ranked) Dorman and (10th ranked) Lexington should be intriguing.”
Undefeated and 6th ranked Lexington will close out the Showcase at 8:30 p.m. against Dreher. Harris hopes to return in time from his daughter’s graduation at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa that morning to coach.
In between the girls’ game and the marquee contest between the Cyclones and Cavaliers, there will be a 3-point shooting contest.
