Region championships have become almost an annual ritual in Lexington cross-country.
Tuesday night at home, the program accomplished a feat for the first time in 7 years. Both the boys and girls' teams swept the Region 5-5A meet.
This marked the 12th consecutive region title for the boys, who were led by sophomore Zander Jeffcoat, senior William Johnson and junior Sol Shaffer. The girls won for the first time since 2012, which was the last time both teams won together.
The Class 5A Mid State Qualifiers will take place this Saturday at Carolina Cup Facility in Camden starting with the girls at 9 am and boys at 9:30 am.
The Gray Collegiate varsity boys' cross-country team was also victorious at its Region 3-2A meet.
