Bad weather delayed what turned into the inevitable for Lexington High School.
The Wildcats returned to action Saturday to compete the final 6:57 of their season-opener against Irmo High School.
A 36-yard interception return by Levi Gulasa with 3:40 left helped seal the 21- 6 win over the Yellow Jackets.
Ahmad Bynem-Scott rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown and Taylor Mathias added 85 yards and a score to lead the Lexington offense. The Wildcats had 221 rushing yards, but were held to -7 passing yards.
Irmo committed 2 turnovers and had just 62 passing yards. Quarterback Dylan Williams did complete a 47-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Kinard in the 3rd quarter.
Lexington plays host to Dreher in Week 1, while Irmo plays host to archrival and 3-time defending Class 5A champion Dutch Fork.
