Management confident in Blowfish with regular season days away

The Lexington County Blowfish held its final preseason luncheon Wednesday in the VIP room at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
Head coach Marshall McDonald was on hand, along with General Manager Theo Bacot,  as they gave their thoughts on the 2019 team.
“We have a roster full of quality talent that I believe will be our best team since we moved to Lexington County,” Bacot stated. “With outstanding local talent, as well as some of the top players from USC and Clemson, we can and will compete for the (Coastal Plain League) South Division in 2019.”
The players weren’t the only college aged folks discussed on Wednesday. The Blowfish officially welcomed another class of summer interns to the Blowfish.
“As always, a majority of interns come from the University of South Carolina,” co-owner Bill Shanahan said. “We have a long standing relationship with USC and the (College of Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management) school. Not only is USC represented, but the 2019 intern class is made up of students from Columbia International, Clemson, Anderson, and Lincoln Memorial University.”
The full Blowfish Alumni game roster was announced Wednesday as well. Former Blowfish coaches Tim Medlin and Jonathan Johnson were on-hand as they will coach the Alumni team.
“This game has been rained out the last two seasons,” Bacot said. “But we’re excited for a clear night and a great night of celebrating Blowfish history with this amazing game.”  The Blowfish Alumni Exhibition game takes place Memorial Day starting at 7:05 pm (gates will open at 6 pm.)
The Lexington County Blowfish open the 2019 Coastal Plain League season May 30 against the Forest City Owls at home. Go to www.goblowfish.com to get your tickets. Last season, the Blowfish won their opening night tilt against the Owls with a walk-off 8-7 win.
